The program develops advanced skills in traditional bricklaying, blocklaying, and paving techniques, with particular emphasis on heritage bricklaying and refractory bricklaying for high-temperature applications. Students master the selection and use of various materials including clay bricks, concrete blocks, natural stone, and specialized refractory products, while learning proper mortar mixing, laying techniques, joint finishing, and structural considerations. Graduates are equipped to take on responsibility for complex masonry projects, restoration work, and specialized applications such as fireplaces, kilns, and furnaces, with expertise in both traditional craftsmanship methods and modern construction practices that meet current building standards and heritage conservation requirements.
